Summit Series Emergency Action Plan (Simplified)
- Player is DOWN:
Captain (or designate) to assess player:

Obvious serious injury/loss of consciousness immediate activation of 911: Crowchild Twin Arenas Location: 185 Scenic Acres Drive NW, (in "Scenic Acres"). Specify which rink the emergency is in.
- Player not responsive & not breathing:
- CPR trained person to begin chest compressions (this can be performed over the shoulder pads)
- AED is brought onto the ice
-> Location of Defibrillator (AED): in Twin Arena building lobby, to left (north) side, outside of the Blue arena, near the Operations Staff office, mounted in wall box (box is unlocked but is alarmed). - Let the arena concession staff know that you are taking the AED. Also, a ‘First Aid’ kit is available (located IN the Operations Staff office).
- Expose chest (use scissors if needed)
- Turn on AED and follow instructions
- If AED/first aid kit not required, emergency contact to be notified & updated on the situation while awaiting EMS
- Captain (or designate) directs someone to go outside arena and await the ambulance and direct EMS to the injured player
- Player not responsive & not breathing:

- Player complaining of CHEST PAIN: a possible heart attack—other symptoms might include:
- Chest pain or discomfort in the center of the chest; also described as a heaviness, tightness, pressure, aching, burning, numbness, fullness or squeezing feeling that lasts for more than a few minutes or goes away and comes back. It is sometimes mistakenly thought to be indigestion or heartburn.
- Pain or discomfort in other areas of the upper body including the arms, left shoulder, back, neck, jaw, or stomach.
- Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath.
- Sweating or "cold sweat."
- Fullness, indigestion, or choking feeling (may feel like "heartburn").
- Nausea or vomiting.
- Light-headedness, dizziness, extreme weakness or anxiety.
- Rapid or irregular heartbeats.
